Is the Job Market As Depressing As the Media Says?

By M Cepeda

Jobs Vacancy, Job vacancies, Employment Jobs

Everyone has heard the grim statistics about the job market. Millions of people have lost traditional long-standing jobs. Some of these people are still looking for replacement employment. Others, however, have taken their lemons and made lemonade. They've found a way to parlay their expertise into employment.

It is difficult to sometimes narrow down what it is that you offer potential employers. Once you do you will find that there are many different tasks that you are qualified for. There are many employers out there who are looking for flexible employees. It is because of this fact, that the job market is not as depressing as the media reports. Let's take a look at some of the reasons why.

Multiple part-time jobs are an avenue

Full-time employees who have lost their jobs are now faced with many new realities. One of the most popular things to do is to look for the same time of work. This is sometimes an opportunity to find a job. In this current economy however, being diverse and flexible are selling points.

This may require you to find more than one part-time job. These jobs may not pay exactly what your full-time position did. It is possible to use multiple part-time positions to make a reasonable salary. These jobs are more populous than one would think. They present a good avenue for many unemployed people.

Unique jobs can be a benefit too

There are two unique types of job opportunities that are available right now. One of these is jobs without benefits. Some of these are part-time positions. Others may even be more or less than traditional hours. Clerical and retail jobs sometimes fit into this category.

Another option is jobs that do not pay benefits. Everyone wants to find a great job with terrific benefits. In this present job market, those positions aren't as available as unique positions. You may need to work more than one of these to match your budget. A good thing about these jobs is that they could eventually lead to full-time or better positions when the economy stabilizes.

Freelance writing is a creative option

One of the booming industries right now is freelance writing. There are thousands of jobs available in this very diverse field. National and international employers are looking to hire skilled writers. This is a benefit to them because they don't have to pay taxes and benefits to writers.

Although writers are responsible for their own taxes, this is the only downside. There is a great possibility of earning full-time wages by taking freelance assignments. If you can live without benefits for a while, this may be the answer to your unemployment problem.

Technology based work is lucrative

Even when people with IT skills lose their jobs, all is not lost. There detailed technology based expertise is wanted. There are many different industries needing these workers. Some of them are not often thought of when it comes to information technology.

The medical industry, for example, has a big need for skilled computer workers. These jobs range in category and salary. There are even freelance related jobs for people with this background.
